Our bookshop has been really busy over the past few weeks, as we welcomed back regular customers and met many new ones. We are delighted to tell you that from 1st October our opening hours are extending just a little – and we hope to be able to keep on adding more hours as autumn progresses – all being well.
NEW – We are now adding Thursday mornings to our opening times.
In October we are open mornings and afternoons every Thursday, Friday and Saturday
From 10.30am to 4.00pm
Lovely books keep pouring in, donated by supporters of our charity Music for Everyone. Come and see.
Our August Fridays and Saturdays have been great – re-connecting with lots of regular customers and meeting plenty of new ones, all enjoying being able to browse the Bookwise shelves once more, in covid-secure conditions.
In September we are continuing to open in the later part of each week, introducing Thursday afternoons, as follows:
Calling all you avid readers out there hungry after lockdown to come back for more of Bookwise’s good books, sheet music and CDS at bargain prices!
We are delighted to announce that Bookwise, Goose Gate, Nottingham, will be open on the following days this August 2020. All covid-security measures are in place to allow you to browse as you love to do. We are really looking forward to welcoming you back.

Dear Bookwise Customers
We are very sad that our lovely shop is closed, like almost everything else, because of the corvid-19 regulations. Thank you so much – donors and customers – who have helped to make Bookwise Goose Gate such a resource for so many people, a great fund-raiser for Music for Everyone (every penny goes to them) and such a pleasure to volunteer in.
We can hardly wait for the day when all this will be over, we take down the shutters and welcome you all back through the door once more!
While you are stuck at home, perhaps you will sort through your bookshelves and pick out a few great books that you feel able to donate to us. Please keep them on one side. Books on any subject – and sheet music or CDs – in good condition are welcome, but we have a big demand for paperbacks in these categories:
contemporary fiction literary classics Shakespeare plays poetry
local interest philosophy history archaeology art history fine art sport
Greek and Roman classics in translation photography psychology popular science
Keep well everyone, keep reading!
All best wishes, Your Bookwise Team
November is National Novel Writing Month. Bookwise in Goose Gate featured as the filming location for a Notts TV package promoting it. Three interviewees appeared on the Ey Up Notts magazine programme but of course we like to think that the bookshop backdrop was the star of the show! Watch the package by clicking here – second item, about 7 minutes in.
Delighted, through this event, to have met Matt Turpin from Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature and to have started to link Bookwise into our city’s great project.
